Meet Catherine

I first encountered Ashtanga yoga in 2013 during my undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia with Certified Teacher John Bultman. The structured methodology and personalized approach of the practice instantly drew me in.

Upon graduation, I booked a one-way ticket to Mysore, India, the origin place of Ashtanga yoga, to study with R. Sharath Jois. After several visits and dedicated study, I was honored to receive Level 2 Authorization from Sharathji in 2018.

Between my travels to India, I spent five years living in Bali, Indonesia, where I assisted Mysore-style classes at Samadi Bali with Damien de Bastier and Andréa Drottholm.

As a teacher, I aim to bring the insights I've gained through my studies to make Ashtanga yoga accessible, transformative, and empowering. I hope to transfer the physical and mental benefits that I’ve experienced on to others.

The more I practice, the more I appreciate the boundless nature of yoga, and I remain a lifelong student. I am deeply grateful for the guidance and apprenticeships provided by John Bultman, Damien de Bastier, Andréa Drottholm, and Priya Jhawar.

Outside of yoga, I’m also a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. I love all things health and wellness, including strength training, running and trying out new healthy recipes.
